Aussie Parking Enforcement Officers Lose Cargos

Look, a parking enforcement officer left you a kind note!

In an attempt to make parking enforcement officers (i.e. those lovely people who give you parking tickets) more approachable in Australia, they’re shedding cargo pants and leather jackets for a more civilian look.

According to The Daily Telegraph, the new business casual dress will consist of starched white blouses and charcoal trousers.

“This uniform reflects a better image, we are less militant, more approachable, and it is more comfortable to wear,” Eleni McRae, a former parking enforcement officer, told the paper.

While those who wear the uniforms seem to be welcoming the change, others aren’t so thrilled.

One commenter suggested the new uniforms made the parking officers “wolves in sheep’s clothing,” and others complained that the new clothes would not make a difference. “Their attitude and mission is still the problem,” another commenter wrote.

Meanwhile, a parking officer in Sydney suffered a broken leg, a broken bone in one hand and a deep cut to his face after being assaulted while inspecting a car, reports Yahoo!7 News.

Hmm … perhaps they should keep the militant-looking tactical pants and bombers after all?
