When we published the top 13 police Facebook pages, our readers wondered where the “real” pages were.
Sure, handcuffs and badges are legitimate pages and are just as like-worthy as anything else. However, some wanted to find out what pages represented the real folks out there. And we’re here to tell you.
1. Discover Policing – If you’re already a cop, this organization might mean little to you. Unless you work on the recruitment side. Then you should love this nationwide police recruitment initiative.
2. National Sheriffs’ Association – Founded in 1940, this association was created to raise professionalism and represents over 3,000 sheriffs across the country. In order to do so, NSA holds programs for sheriffs and deputies to improve job performance.
3. Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.) – When an officer is killed in the line of duty, this is where a family can turn. C.O.P.S. lends a helping hand by providing resources and assistance to those surviving families.
4. Chicago Police Department – When danger blows through the Windy City, the CPD is the first line of defense against the bad guys. And when you find yourself stranded in Cabrini-Green, they’ll probably be the first you call.
5. CopsAlive – This website preaches total wellness for police officers. And who can argue with that? This group assist law enforcement officers to build happy, healthy lives. That’s something we definitely like.
6. Kentucky State Police – With almost 18,000 fans, the KSP keeps us in the loop with tons of photo albums, fan photos and videos. And with that Southern politeness, we’d say they’re not only likeable but lovable.
7. National Police Dog Foundation – The canine unit can inspire both awwws and terror depending the occasion. This foundation raises awareness and funds that support those national units.
8. Thank a Police Officer – Not exactly a department or a foundation, the “Thank a Police Officer” page has brought together more than 75,000 who just want to say thanks to law officers everywhere.
9. NSW Police Force – A salute to the New South Wales Police Force, this page honors those in the line of duty with videos of police in action, news updates and events such as Graffiti Action Day, which encourages the local community to report unauthorized street art.
10. Omaha Police Department – Around 5,000 people “like” the official page of the Omaha Police Department. Maybe you should join them?
